The Gravitational Reference Advanced Technology Test In Space (GRATTIS) is a University of Florida mission that operates a next-generation gravitational reference sensor in orbit. The sensor tracks a free-floating test mass with nanometer precision — the core technology for future satellite constellations that will monitor Earth’s water, ice, and climate through the planet’s changing gravity field, and for gravitational-wave observatories such as LISA.
The mission takes PSSL-developed flight hardware from the laboratory in Gainesville to orbit aboard a commercial spacecraft, demonstrating in space what has so far only been possible on the ground.
